Welcome! Please explore and enjoy the images in my site. May you find them as inspiring to view as I did to create.  I will be adding more photos to Zenfolio as time allows. My less formal but much larger collection of photos can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/ftoomschb.

As of now, June 28, 2016, I have a piece in the juried exhibition and wine label contest "Art in the Loft" at Millbrook Vineyards and Winery (if you visit this lovely and award-winning winery between now and early November 2016, please cast a vote for your favorite three artworks (mine is #6). I have a solo show at the Hyde Park Free Library Annex, a solo show at the Hudson Valley News Network offices at the Dutchess County Airport, and several pieces on display at Artists' Collective of Hyde Park, 4338 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park NY, 12538 (Open 3-6 pm Thursday; 12-6 pm Friday through Sunday). The next show at ACHP, "Primary Colors", will open Saturday, July 9 2016 at 5:30 pm with a reception and will include works by me and 25+ other artists. I'll also have a piece in the upcoming "Fun House" juried exhibition at Barrett Art Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. For more info on past shows, please see my blog entries.

In September 2015 and again at the Hyde Park Library in my current show, I was able to celebrate my spring visit to Europe with a solo show at ACHP called "New Eyes and Extra Colors: Bringing the Journey Home." In it I contrasted the light and aesthetic of the Hudson Valley with that of the Mediterranean countries I visited. It was quite popular with clients and very enjoyable, and very worth the challenge of having a solo show to learn from and share. I gave a slideshow presentation at Arts Mid-Hudson of many more images from my trip which was so well received that I repeated it in Hyde Park.

Last Year, 2014:

One of my pieces was accepted for a juried show called "Reflections" at Front Street Gallery in Patterson, which opened October 19 with a reception at 10:am.

As of April 23, 2014, I had a solo show in the Poughkeepsie Common Council Chamber, 3rd Floor of City Hall, 62 Market Street in Poughkeepsie, NY which ran through August. The opening reception was quite successful on Wednesday, 5:30-6:30 p.m. prior to the Common Council Meeting. Ten canvas wraps of mine were on display, most of which are of Poughkeepsie and all of which were taken in the beautiful mid-Hudson Valley. This exhibition represents the first time an artist has been invited to display their artwork in the Council Chamber, and it heralds a new ongoing program of local artists' work being exhibited there. This program is a great step forward for art in Poughkeepsie.

I am a Hudson Valley photographic artist with fairly eclectic aesthetic interests, who specializes in landscapes and abstractions. My work has been called "painterly" and is often noted for its unusual light. I particularly like reflections and how they add drama and dimensionality to an image. I love to experiment with new subjects, styles and techniques. I'm self-taught and have no delusions of grandeur, but I am especially good at being me. Please explore my photos - I hope you enjoy them! If you are interested in purchasing a piece, please contact me at btodd99@hotmail.com.
